Funny because it's true

Just want to share a quick story that had me laughing.
Back in October of last year, there were some issues that came up and it created quite a mess. The team I'm on had a lot of work to do because other people dropped the ball and a lot of the help came from our off-shore team in India. So I sent out an email praising their efforts:

To you and all the OS team who worked on these I want to say well done. You guys have been swamped with literally thousands of AUAR revocations in addition to our normal volume; to take these tasks and complete them in such a short period deserves some major congratulations and acknowledgment for your efforts.

Perhaps it is boastful and big-headed of me to say this (it won't be the first time and definitely won't be the last) but I highly doubt any other group would be as expeditious and thorough as you have been. It's a great relief to know we have such strong support from the OS team to handle these types of unexpected urgent requests.

To paraphrase legendary anchorman Ron Burgandy, "Now if you don't think this Off-Shore team is the greatest Off-Shore team ever, I will fight you. That's no lie."

Much thanks and appreciation,

As you can see, I took some liberties in having some fun with this email - no big deal, right? I'd CC'd my manager on this because he was out of the office the week this went down and he got a kick out of the Anchorman tribute. The funniest part, Brian said, was that the OS team probably had never heard of Anchorman and thought I was being serious. (I was being serious about the tremendous job they did, but having fun with the RB quote.)

Well, fast forward to 3 months later. Brian comes into the office one morning last week and tells me that this group (our offshore team) is shopping around their services to other parts of ING to take on more responsibility. In the presentation they give there's a section of "What our customers have to say" and - that's right - my paraphrase is right there in the middle of it.

So, they are going around to these groups doing presentations and popping off Papa Burgundy and not knowing it's from him! To people who do! I'm using exclamation points! It's that funny!
Now, if you don't think that is funny, I will fight you. That's no lie.

Side note: I also don't love Democrats, but I love my wife. (It'll make sense, trust me.)
